As part of the Reel Time Series, looking for ways to Change our mind to Change our Time… This one is quite a trip…. stepping back in time in your mind, actually takes your biology with you.
Another study by Harvard, it was in 1979 by Harvard psychologist Ellen Langer.
A small group of elderly men (mostly in their 70s–80s) were brought to a retreat.
The entire environment was carefully recreated to look like 1959 — about 20 years earlier in their lives.
They weren’t just asked to reminisce — they had to act as if it was 1959:
Talk in present tense about their younger lives
Read old magazines, listen to old radio shows
Discuss “current events” from that era
Another group simply reminisced about the past (the control group).
After about a week, researchers observed measurable changes:
Improved memory, hearing, vision, and dexterity
Better posture and gait
Increased strength and joint flexibility
Reduced signs of arthritis
Some who arrived using canes were able to walk more independently
Take a walk down memory lane, your mind thinks it is there.. Change your mind Change your Biology.
